Dyson vacuums for pet owners

Other vacuums rely on bags or filters to trap dirt, dust and pet hair. When you use them, dirt and dust clog the pores of the bag or filter. This reduces airflow, causing the machine to lose suction, leaving dirt and dust behind in the home.

Dyson vacuums don’t rely on bags or filters to trap dirt and dust. Instead they use Radix Cyclone™ technology to spin dirt, dust, fibres and pet hair from the airflow and into the bin. Dyson vacuums don’t lose suction, so they remove more dirt, dust and pet hair from your home.

Turbine head and Mini turbine head

Some Dyson barrel vacuum cleaners come with a Turbine head, this air-driven head has bristles that spin to efficiently pick up pet hair and fibres. Some models also come with a Mini turbine head that attaches to the wand or hose to remove pet hair and dirt from confined spaces such as upholstery, stairs and the car. The Mini turbine head can also be purchased as an accessory.

Pet hair and allergies

Pets are part of the family, and many live indoors with access to carpets and household furniture. When animals clean themselves, they deposit allergen-rich saliva on their fur, which soon ends up on your sofa and carpets, where it can trigger reactions in allergy sufferers. Using a Dyson vacuum cleaner with Radix Cyclone™ technology and a specifically design floor head will help to remove more dust, dirt and pet hair from your home.

Dyson microbiology lab

Dyson has its own microbiology lab at its Research, Design and Development centre in Malmebsury, Wiltshire.

Dyson scientists study household dust and dirt, in all its forms. A lot of the work they do involves house dust mites (Dermatophagoides pteronyssinus), one of the most common triggers of asthma and allergies. They keep them in colonies, feeding them a ground-up mixture of wheat germ and dog biscuit in ideal temperature conditions (25°C and 75% relative humidity). The research conducted in our lab informs new and better ways of removing them.

Dyson is thought to be the only appliance manufacturer in Europe (possibly the world) to have its own in-house microbiology lab.
