No, the Dyson Spot+Scrub™ Ai has been engineered for both hard and soft floor types – including sealed wood, tile, laminate, and vinyl, plus low-pile rugs and carpets. Owners can independently fine-tune hydration levels on the robot’s wet roller to suit their preferences and their hard floor.

The Dyson Spot+Scrub™ Ai robot uses a combination of LiDAR technology, an Ai-powered front-facing HD camera, green-spectrum LED illumination, a dual-line laser system, plus drop and edge follow sensors to navigate and map homes quickly and effectively.

Our robot is designed to intelligently detect a wide variety of common household objects and furniture, from tables, chairs and sofas, to smaller items such as shoes, socks and cables. The Dyson Spot+Scrub™ Ai robot can vacuum an area of up to 110m2 on a single charge. Coverage can depend on furniture placement and the layout of a home. Since the robot returns to its docking station to recharge, empty and self-clean whenever the battery is low, it can clean much larger areas, charging and cleaning itself as it goes. So it vacuums your carpets with powerful suction – and washes your hard floors with a clean roller every time.

At Dyson, privacy and security are core to our product design. The Dyson Spot + Scrub Ai™ processes all visual information locally on the device—no images or data are ever stored or transmitted externally.​ Our robot vacuum's on-board camera is used solely for Ai object and does not perform human or face recognition. Images captured for object recognition are deleted immediately after processing and never leave the robot.

The Dyson Spot+Scrub Ai has two filters – one on the robot and one on the docking station. As debris is extracted, filters in the robot vacuum and the dock capture dust particles as small as 0.1 microns. We recommend cleaning the filters with normal, room temperature tap water, followed by air drying it, before replacing it back on the robot or docking station.

Yes, the brush bar is engineered for both soft flooring, such as carpets, and hard floors, and the wet roller washes all hard floor types. Suction on carpets is automatically boosted 4 times for a deeper clean, removing microscopic dirt and debris as small as allergens and pet dander. The wet roller also automatically lifts 10mm to avoid carpets.

The roller mechanism automatically extends 40mm to allow the Spot+Scrub™ Ai robot to clean right up to the skirting board and into room corners, cleaning areas where dirt often accumulates. ​

The Dyson Spot+Scrub™ Ai features a self-cleaning microfibre wet roller designed to clean itself on every rotation, so it always cleans with clean water. ​

So it always performs as it should. Dyson’s Root Cyclone dock means no bags to buy and a large bin capacity, storing dirt for up to 100 days. Hygienic one-touch ejection system drives dust deep into your bin in one action for hygienic no-touch bin emptying.

Step 1: Identification
Dyson Spot+Scrub™ Ai uses a front-facing HD camera with green-spectrum illumination to reveal hidden stains and distinguish between wet spills and dry debris. Its Ai, trained on a huge dataset, identifies spill types and selected debris by analysing colour, reflectivity, shape and size.

Step 2: Adaptive cleaning
Based on what it detects, the robot automatically adjusts cleaning passes – starting from 4 passes and increasing up to 15 passes for tougher stains. These thresholds are based on lab testing for optimal stain removal.

Step 3: Verification
Between passes, the camera re-scans the area to confirm stain removal. The Ai uses its training on nearly 10 million annotated examples to evaluate effectiveness, processing visual information in real time.

The image and object recognition system in Dyson Spot+Scrub™ Ai accurately identifies common household obstacles like cables, shoes and pet toys – enabling precise navigation and fewer cleaning interruptions. It also classifies floor debris and, combined with Dyson’s Ai-powered detection, helps the robot optimise cleaning routes and adapt behaviour for thorough and efficient cleaning.
