Dyson takes inspiration from the rich heritage of Chinese architecture for its latest special-edition colourway, launching for the coming Lunar New Year and Valentine’s Day gifting season. The Year of the Dragon served as significant inspiration during the development of the special-edition range. There is duality between the dragon’s symbolism, as powerful and strong, and the qualities of Dyson technology. At the heart of the Dyson Airwrap™ multi-styler and the Dyson Supersonic™ hair dryer is the Dyson Digital Motor V9, delivering high performance in a small but powerful format.

Dyson's approach

At Dyson, form always follows function and colours, materials and finishes are used to complement the technology within. The use of colours, materials and textures has evolved over the last 30 years. The team create colour palettes that highlight the form and function of the product, and are driven by three key principles - function, emotion, and senses.

Prussian blue

In the craftsmanship of Chinese architecture, dark blue roof tiles are the most representative of those featured on the renowned Temple of Heaven in Beijing. The colour symbolises prosperity, advancement, and harmony.

Topaz orange

Orange has a historical association with elaborate artwork and ceramics, while also being a symbol of good luck in Chinese culture. Oranges and tangerines are also often exchanged during Lunar New year celebrations, as they are believed to bring good luck and happiness for the new year.

Peacock

A blend of blue and green, turquoise is often found in Chinese structures and traditional Chinese dragon dances during festivities. The turquoise accents highlight the functional touchpoints of the technology.

Dyson’s 2024 Hair Care range in special-edition Prussian Blue and Topaz will be available from Dyson Demo Stores and Dyson.com.sg from 5 January 2024.
